Erasmus+
offers opportunities for students to study and staff to teach or train in higher education institutions beyond Europe. It also makes the same opportunities available for staff and students from countries beyond Europe to come to participating HEIs in Europe.

This is known as International Credit Mobility

Following its successfully application, the University of Rome “Foro Italico” has been granted funding in 2015 (mobility periods from June 2015 to July 2017) to send and receive students (opportunities to study abroad are available to students at Bachelor and Master levels) and staff (both academic and administrative) with its partner Western Balkans universities:

  • University of Novi Sad (Serbia)
  • University of Nis (Serbia)
  • University of Pristina (Kosovo under UNSCR 1244/99)
  • “AleksanderXhuvani”University–Elbasan (Albania)
  • “Luigj Gurakuqi” University– Shkodra (Albania)
  • Sports University of Tirana (Albania)

Through this project, the cooperation already started with the above mentioned universities was further strengthened and the results achieved further consolidated. Following the accreditation of vocational masters in the main areas (Health, Management, Coaching and Education) in line with each partner country’s labour market requirements, exchange focused on those fields (Biomedical Science, Education and Sport Performance) more responding to local institutions’ needs.

Partner institutions could benefit of outgoing staff’s know-how also with respect to the new laboratories (Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology and Movement Analysis), upgraded during the last Tempus project and co-financed by the Tempus programme: outgoing staff shared their expertise in the use of new equipment, offered their guidance on current research plans and worked at future research cooperation proposals.

11 student mobilities (1 outgoing/10 incoming) and 29 staff mobilities (13 outgoing/ 16 incoming) were completed. Students enriched their perspectives in their fields of study, improved their competencies in at least two foreign languages (English and that of hosting institution). Most incoming ones profited from the opportunity of attending up to 4 modules (one full academic year) of the European Master in Health and Physical Activity (a second-level programme coordinated by Foro Italico University in partnership with a number of higher education institutes particularly involved in sport science and public health issues in several programme countries) exposing students to a fully international context (in terms of attendance, lecturers and content).

During this two-year project, cooperation with the partner institutions was strengthened and their participation in European networks such as ENSE (European Network of Sport Education) and EAS (European Athlete as Student), whose presidency is currently held by Foro Italico’s academics, promoted. The staff mobility not only reinforced, but also provided an excellent opportunity to extend the professional network of the participants, share expertise, sector-specific or practical skills and set the basis for development of future joint projects and joint research.

Here are some comments from our Erasmus+ students about their studying experience:

"As Erasmus+ student for seven months at University of " Foro Italico "in Rome I can assure you that students have excellent opportunity to continue with their professional education, make new friends and gain significant life experiences. During the lectures students have opportunities to meet and cooperate with professors from various places in the world, to learn the latest information from our field of study, as well as to exchange their knowledge with other students who came from different countries and educational systems. It was really pleasuring and satisfactory to be part of this exchange program and I fully recommend it to future generations eager for knowledge and great life experiences."

A.K. from the University of Novi Sad

G.G and A.N. from Sports University of Tirana.
